Salted Caramel Artisan Ice Cream @ Upper Thomson

Being in a tropical country, people would seek refuge in places where they can cool themselves as well as having a pit stop for the rest of their journey. That was what happen when I was around Upper Thomson area and came across this eye-catching cafe in between rows of shophouses.

Upon entering the shop, we were greeted by the aroma of the homemade waffles and brownies and not forgetting the cooling air-con! Another great thing about this place is the affordable pricing for the ice creams and desserts!

Single scoop - $2.50

Double scoop - $4.00

Triple scoop - $5.50

Waffles - $3.50

Brownie - $3.50

However, there are only a few but unique selections of ice creams displayed on the wall namely, Salted Caramel (Popular Flavour), Stout & Chocolate, Earl Grey, Horlick & TimTams, Kahlua, Oreos & Cream etc.

After several deliberation on the ice cream flavours, we decided to go for the Kahlua and Earl Grey ice cream with waffles! These two flavours are unique and also nicer than the others in my opinion. For the waffle, you can choose to top it up with Chocolate syrup or maple syrup and the ice cream you can have it with toppings such as rainbow sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate rice and peanuts @ $0.30 each.

Some disappointment happened when it took more than 15 minutes for the waffle and ice cream to be sent to us. We were already half filled with water by then.

Alas, the waffle came and the portion was awesome and double-scoop ice cream were generous too! The waffle smelled really great with the maple syrup and it was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We would usually opt to put the ice cream separately as we do not want to destroy the wonderful exterior and taste of the waffle.

The Kahlua ice cream tasted unique for the first mouth but after that it actually tasted like coffee ice cream. The Earl Grey ice cream was better as it was refreshing and light on the taste buds! However, the ice cream were a little bit icy and powdery.

Being one of the ice cream shop that competes with ice cream cafes like ICE CREAM CHEFS and SCOOPZ around the area, the prices for the ice cream stands at the most competitive.

Overall, chilling at Salted Caramel was definitely successful for that day and it will also serve as a great after-meal dessert place for you! With plenty of seats inside and outside the shop, and a mini toy-kitchen for your kids, there is always a reason for you to stop by and chill to the max!
